1 Second Conditional If he won the lottery, he would travel around the world. If I saw a ghost, I would scream. If she found a wallet on the street, she would take it to the police. If I met the president, I would tell him to make investments in education.

2 Second conditional If …past simple… >>> …would [do]…

3 Wish I wish she loved me. If she loved me, I would be very happy.
I wish I won the lottery. If I won the lottery, I would travel around the world. I wish I were an outspoken person. If I were an outspoken person, I would have lots of friends. I wish people didn’t use fossil fuels so much. If people didn’t use fossil fuels so much, we wouldn’t have the greenhouse effect.

4 Wish Wish … [past simple]:
I would like to have a different present situation. I would prefer things to be different now, but they can’t (or it is very unlikely that they will) be.

5 Wish I wish you would stop missing classes. (It is possible for you to stop missing classes.) I wish my neighbour would stop practicing the drums after midnight. (It is possible for him to stop playing drums late at night) I wish the rain would stop. I wish the bus would come.

6 Wish Wish...[would]: I would like to have a different present situation. But these things aren’t impossible by definition. Most of the time, you use this to complain about something annoying.

7 Third Conditional If I had studied for that test, I would have passed.
If she had seen the film, she would have liked it. If we had invited him to the party, he would have come. If you hadn’t eaten so much, you wouldn’t have felt sick.

8 Third Conditional If …past perfect… >>> ...[would have done]…

9 Wish I wish I had been in Woodstock. If I had been there, I would have seen lots of excellent concerts. I wish I had seen Rambo I. If I had seen it, I would have understood Rambo II. I wish he had gotten the job. If he had gotten the job, he would have earned some money to pay his bills. I wish I had studied more. If I had studied more, I would have passed my exams.

10 Wish Wish … [past perfect]:
I would like things to have been different in the past.

11 If only I wish = If only I wish I won the lottery.
= If only I won the lottery. I wish the bus would come. = If only the bus would come. I wish I had been in Woodstock. = If only I had been in Woodstock.
