9 Expository/Research Mini Unit
(Common Core Nonfiction) Novel: Night- Elie Wiesel’s compelling true story, an autobiographical account of life in inside the Nazi Germany concentration camps of WWII Conclude the year with a group project where students will analyze and connect the themes across the whole year.

10 Classwork/Homework Grammar program (No Red Ink)
Finish reading chapters in class novels Study for literary term quizzes (Tues. Warm-up) Reading equivalent to minutes a night Finishing up any work that was not completed in class. (A majority of students get their work done in my class AS LONG AS THEY MANAGE THEIR TIME EFFECTIVELY).

11 Grading Emphasis on Mastery
Assessment 70% Classwork 30% Philosophy: I value the writing process. No author wrote a novel on the first try! If students show initiative and interest improving their writing skills, then I will reread and re-grade their work! Citizenship- school policy
