2 About Competenz We are bigger than all universities in NZ apart from Auckland Our KPI’s are set by TEC TEC provide approximately $150m per annum to ITO’s 6,500 learners are in apprenticeships We work with government departments, universities, schools, associations, providers, technical institutes and industry We 70 account managers throughout the country The wood manufacturing and forestry office is based here in Rotorua

Levels 2 & 4 are the most common areas of completion Wood manufacturing had more completions in 2015 than 2014

4 Over half of the trainees are under the age of 34
Maori are trend up in regards to training 40% of NZ population has some sort of L&N issues Most of the learners are kinaesthetic

5 How does this relate wood processing
Competenz facilitates and supports on-the-job training for your sectors. There are 1,154 trainees in your Wood Manufacturing sector and in 2015 there was 566 qualification completions. There are 21 New Zealand qualifications in Wood Manufacturing registered with the National Qualifications Authority (NZQA) and approximately 600 unit standards.

6 The sector in a nut shell
There is approximately 13,389 jobs in the wood manufacturing sector Bay of Plenty, Auckland, Waikato, Canterbury and Northland are the main regional areas of employment Sawmiller’s and timber yard workers make up the majority of roles in your sector at just over 2,000 employees Europeans make up 71% of the workforce followed by Maori at 24% The average age of people in your workforce is 45 – 49 yrs old and climbing Males make up 86% of the workforce compered to females at 14% 56% of the wood manufacturing workforce do not have a high school qualification The average income in your sector is $62K per annum verses a national average of $56K Your sector contributes to more than one billon $ to the GDP
