5. How does this relate wood processing
Competenz facilitates and supports on-the-job training for your sectors.
There are 1,154 trainees in your Wood Manufacturing sector and in 2015 there was 566 qualification completions.
There are 21 New Zealand qualifications in Wood Manufacturing registered with the National Qualifications Authority (NZQA) and approximately 600 unit standards.

Bay of Plenty, Auckland, Waikato, Canterbury and Northland are the main regional areas of employment
Sawmiller’s and timber yard workers make up the majority of roles in your sector at just over 2,000 employees
Europeans make up 71% of the workforce followed by Maori at 24%
The average age of people in your workforce is 45 – 49 yrs old and climbing
Males make up 86% of the workforce compered to females at 14%
56% of the wood manufacturing workforce do not have a high school qualification
The average income in your sector is $62K per annum verses a national average of $56K
Your sector contributes to more than one billon $ to the GDP
