1 Automotive Tools

2 A new Technician is required to supply his own personal tool kit.

3 You would be required to supply the basic tools required to complete your job description.
Your employer would supply major tools such as Jacks, Hoists, and power tools or machines

4 The cost of a tool kit can be quite substantial.

5 It is important tools are kept organized and secure
It is important tools are kept organized and secure. Therefore some type of tool chest must be bought.

6 YOU SHOULD CONSIDER PURCHASING INSURANCE FOR TOOLS, IN THE EVENT OF FIRE, THEFT, or OTHER DISASTERS.

7 Basic Tools The most common screwdrivers used in the automotive trade:
Standard/slotted Phillips Torx

11 There are many different types and styles of wrenches:
Open end wrenches Box end wrenches Combination wrenches Flare nut wrenches Stubby wrenches Ratcheting wrenches Allen wrenches Adjustable wrenches Socket wrenches

18 Wrenches are available in Metric Sizes and 6 or 12 point.
A six point wrench has more contact with the fastener so is less likely to cause damage.

21 Socket Wrenches

22 Sockets are driven by a square drive which fits into a matching recess on the rear of the socket.
This is s drive usually attached to a ratchet, but can be at the end of a straight bar or speed wrench Sockets are categorized by the size of the drive. For automotive use these sizes are usually ¼”, 3/8” ½”,and ¾”

24 Like wrenches, sockets come in both 6 and 12 point.
They also come in both shallow and deep profiles.
