Verification: If the results of the experiment support the hypothesis, the experiment should be repeated by others to verify the results.
Falsification: If the results of the experiment do not support the hypothesis, it is said to be falsified and a new hypothesis must be tried.
Experiment: Design an experiment to test the hypothesis
Hypothesis: Make an educated guess to explain the observable phenomenon

4. Task:
Design a simple example of the scientific method which you could use in the exam.
Observation: My car won’t start.
Hypothesis: Cars need petrol to start.
Experiment: Put petrol in car and try to start it. Result: it starts first time. This result supports my hypothesis. If the car still doesn’t start my hypothesis has been falsified and I have to come up with a new hypothesis.
Verification: Other people whose cars won’t start can repeat my experiment. If their cars start after putting petrol in, then my hypothesis has been verified.
