Data Correction and Release Schedule
The “Preliminary” Graduation, Dropout and A-G Completion Rate are based on data submitted to CALPADS on December 18, This information is embargoed until March 18, The public release data is set for April 25, 2016. Data Correction and Release Schedule 3/18/2016 – The final deadline for LEAs to review, make corrections, and (re)certify the 2015–16 CALPADS Fall 1 submission, which includes official 2015–16 enrollment, EL, FRPM, and the 2014–15 one-year graduate and dropout data. 4/8/2016 – The final deadline for LEAs serving grades 9-12 to review and make corrections to the 2014–15 cohort outcome in the CALPADS ODS before the public release of these data, which will be used for the 2016 AYP determinations. These data are final. LEAs will NOT have another opportunity to amend these data. 4/20/2016 – Private pre-release preview site will be made available for LEAs to review the public release of the official 2015–16 enrollment, EL, FRPM, and the 2014–15 one-year graduate, dropout, and final cohort outcome data. 4/25/2016 – Public release of the official 2015–16 enrollment, EL, FRPM, and the 2014–15 one-year graduate, dropout, and final cohort outcome data.

California Next Generation Science Standards Summative Assessments
March 2016, SBE approval of: Grades five and eight and high school Performance Expectations (PEs) Grade five assessment, consisting of grade five PEs and matrix sampling of PEs from kindergarten through grade four Grade eight assessment, consisting of middle school (grades six through eight) PEs Grade ten, eleven, or twelve assessment, consisting of high school PEs May 2016, request SBE approval of a transition plan for the implementation of the CA Next Generation Science Standards summative assessments. The current timeline is to pilot test in spring 2017; field test in spring 2018; and operational test in spring Reporting would take place in fall 2019 after standard setting.

National Experts: Kathy Escamilla is a Professor of Education in the Division of Social, Bilingual and Multicultural Foundations, at University of Colorado Boulder. Kenji Hakuta is the Lee L. Jacks Professor of Education at Stanford University. Guadalupe Valdés is the Bonnie Katz Tenenbaum Professor of Education at Stanford University. July 2016, request SBE approval of the “purpose” and high-level test design. Current plan is to pilot test in spring 2017, field test in spring 2018, operational test in spring 2019.

CAAs Overview: 2016 Testing Window
The testing window for the CAAs is April 11 through June 17, 2016 for all LEAs: Scheduling within this window is according to local preference. LEAs are not required to inform ETS or CDE of their testing schedule. All testing must take place within the window. Starting in 2017, the CAA testing window will merge with the Smarter Balanced Summative Assessment window. Note: The 2017 CAASPP testing window is defined in regulations. ETS has surveyed LEAs to determine impact of this transition on the system.

Smarter Balanced is developing a new Website that will initially assist parent and guardian about his/her child’s score report. California specific Web pages are currently being developed.

Interim Assessment Since being made available for the school year, more than 4 million interim assessments have been started across more than 1,300 LEAs in California. Reminder: “Manner of Administration” setting made available in October 2015 Available in the Test Administration interface for all interim assessments Two Options: “standardized/benchmark” and “nonstandardized” (default) results from nonstandardized administrations will be purged from the IA Reporting System at the beginning of the school year; all results will be purged at the same time. LEAs can download all and interim assessment results from the IA Reporting System at any time before these data are removed.

In May 2016, ETS will be providing the CDE with approximately 2,000 test items for an initial review. ETS is currently in the process of developing the ELPAC.org Web site, which will be tentatively launched in spring 2016. The proposed ELPAC regulations are currently on the SBE agenda for approval in May 2016.
