BR 1/17 A hydrate is a compound with water added. When naming them we use the prefixes we used for covalent compounds. For example: CuSO4 · 5H2O is copper II sulfate pentahydrate 1. Now name the following hydrate: CaCO3 · 7H2O To find the mass of the hydrate we just add the mass of 7 water molecules to the mass of the salt. Remember a salt is an ionic compound. 2. Find the percent composition of water in the hydrate.

Determine the molecular formula for the following if the mass of the molecular formula is 34 g/mole. Oxygen is 94.1% and hydrogen is the rest. For this problem you will have to find the empirical formula first, then the molecular.
