Unit 3 Review Basketball!
One question will be put up at a time, to be solved by both teams. Everyone must work on the questions individually, and then I will randomly select one person from each team to answer. No textbooks or notes allowed!

Name the Vocab Term! The equilibrium concentration of a substance in a saturated solution at a given temperature. The product of the concentrations of the ions in a saturated solution at a given temperature. Solubility Solubility product

Calculations Calculate the concentration of Fe3+ when 25.0 mL of water is added to 20.0 mL of 0.35 M Fe3+. Calculate the concentrations of all the ions in a 1.5x10-3 M Al2(SO4)3 solution. 0.16 M 3.0x10-3 M Al3+ and 4.5x10-3 M SO42-

Writing Equations If there is a precipitate when you mix equal volumes of 0.2 M CuBr2 and Pb(NO3)2 solutions, write the complete ionic equation. If there is a precipitate when you mix equal volumes of 0.2 M Ba(NO3)2 and Li2SO4 solutions, write the complete ionic equation. Cu2+ + 2Br- + Pb2+ + 2NO3- → PbBr2(s) + Cu2+ + 2NO3- Ba2+ + 2NO3- + 2Li+ + SO42- → BaSO4(s) + 2Li+ + 2NO3-

Qualitative Analysis A solution contains one or more of the ions I-, SO42-, and OH-. You must perform a qualitative analysis of the solution using only AgNO3, Ca(NO3)2, and Mg(NO3)2 as test solutions. Which must be added first? A solution contains Fe3+, Ca2+, Ag+, and Be2+. What compound must be added first to separate these ions? Mg(NO3)2 NaCl (or any other soluble Cl compound)

More Calculations How many grams of BaCrO4 are present in 10.0 L of a saturated solution of BaCrO4? The solubility of Mn(IO3)2 in water is 4.78x10-3 M. What [Mn2+] is required to just start precipitation of Mn(IO3)2 from a M solution of KIO3? 0.028 g 1.09x10-3 M

Applications What ion can be used as an indicator for a titration between Ag+ and Cl-? What substance is most commonly used to remove water hardness? CrO42- Washing soda, or Na2CO3
