Hybrid designs unite the web gateway and remote client with cloud services.
First we know the web continues to provide more and more web threats, phishing, surveys, fake software offers, etc.
Second, we have a large base of users behind web gateways that can provide awareness to web content
Third, we also have a large base of remote users that can provide awareness to web content.
We replace the traditional web gateway with a Blue Coat ProxySG and inline threat prevention co-processor called ProxyAV.
These devices are inline and are connected to a collaborative cloud defense for threat and web content intelligence
Plus this collaborative cloud protects remote users in any location.
So we have a large pool of users behind web gateways, and another pool of remote users to detect new web content and links to feed the cloud. When new content is detected, the request is sent to the cloud for immediate analysis using multiple threat prevention technologies.
Key to the design is central policy control for governance over all users in any location, plus visibility with reporting for all users…and web threat protection from a collaborative cloud defense.
Here is how the collaborative cloud defense operates:
It unites 62M users for tremendous awareness to new web content. For example an injection attack in bbc.com/sports happens, what solution is going to find it first, analyze it and protect users, well we have 62M reasons to find web content first. So we have a hybrid design uniting web gateways and remote clients to a cloud that provides dynamic link analysis on new web content. A big change from a UTM or web gateway that passively scans files
Then all newly detected web requests are “vacuumed” up to one of five WebPulse operating centers for web content and threat analysis. Here Blue Coat uses over 16 threat prevention technologies including anti-malware, anti-virus, script analyzers, sand boxing technologies, web correlations, machine analysis on web tokens and languages, human raters for quality control, plus the input of third party malware feeds from Google, PhishTank and many other sources.
Once a newly detected dynamic link is detected with a web threat, the cloud master WebFilter database is updated, and thus immediately protecting all web gateway and remote users.
The defense is built for on-demand security intelligence, that is web gateways and remote clients request cloud intelligence when they need it, we avoid the delays of a classic update cycle.
So remote users have web protection in any location with no downloads, plus web filtering governance, and reporting visibility for corporate IT.

5. Reporter 9 – Fast, Simple, and Smart
Reporter 9 has a 100% new design and interface. When Reporter 9 is first launched, users are presented with this default dashboard view. The “Panels” displayed can be rearranged, modified, and filtered from different aspects.
Reporter 9 provides the key features and benefits noted above, plus it now comes in three versions with log line limits per edition and suggested user counts for 60 days of log data. The new Enterprise Edition provides three times the number of log lines with an average of 5X the performance of the previous version of Reporter.
Feedback from customers and our channel partners has been overwhelming on this new product release with over 2 years of development and research.
Plus no external database, or the fees associated are required as Reporter 9 comes with its own optimized database using newly develop log file compression techniques unique to Blue Coat.

Recognizing that more and more users are remote and laptop based, ProxyClient provides remote filtering and is cloud connected to the WebPulse cloud defense, thus no downloads or patch cycles for protection. ProxyClient is part of the family of 62M users that detect new web links and content for immediate cloud analysis and protection.
ProxyClient also provides WAN acceleration, and the log files allow Reporter to display a custom dashboard of remote user requests and detailed reports for compliance and governance.
Policy for ProxyClient is managed by ClientManager on ProxySG and includes custom allow/deny exceptions for filtering.
ProxyClient is included with WebFilter at no extra charge and requires no licensing to lower TCO for IT administration.
