Objectives Increase effective use of migrant OSY student profile information. Provide guidance on how to utilize profile information to tailor services to individual needs and inspire innovative service delivery strategies. Demonstrate how use tools developed by the OSY consortium.

Analyzing the profile data – Key Indicators
English oral language proficiency Educational History Access to Transportation Reported Interests Using the profile information, service providers can readily design an educational and/or supportive service plan for students based on: current level of English proficiency; (Using an appropriate assessment instrument for those who express an interest in receiving instruction.) previous educational history (either in the U.S. or their home country); and access to transportation and individual student needs and interests.

Case Study – Pedro (age 19)
Let’s meet Pedro. Ask the participants to call out information on Pedro based on the profile information. Last grade completed? Oral language assessment? Transportation? Interests? When is he off work? Does he have any other problems (vision). ADD - Pedro works long hours, but wants to know enough survival English to be less dependent on the other farmworkers that know more English.
