4. Receive
"I am the vine, and you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will bear much fruit; for you can do nothing without me. Those who do not remain in me are thrown out like a branch and dry up; such branches are gathered up and thrown into the fire, where they are burned.
If you remain in me and my words remain in you, then you will ask for anything you wish, and you shall have it. My Father's glory is shown by your bearing much fruit; and in this way you become my disciples”.
From the Gospel according to John, chapter 15, verses 5 to 8

5. Engage
In our reading today Jesus says, "I am the vine and you are the branches. If you remain in me, you will have much fruit, but apart from me, you can do nothing."
Jesus wants us to produce a lot of fruit. Good fruit like being kind, generous, and faithful. Most of all, he wants us to love others as he has loved us.

How do we know what will be good for us in our lives – what will help us become wise – what are good connections?
Activity suggestion …
Create your own ‘tree’ or ‘vine’ with yourself as the trunk of the tree, what are your connections (‘branches’)? Draw them on (could be family, school friends, clubs etc)

7. Respond Amen Risen Christ, your wounds declare your love for the world
and the wonder of your risen life:
give us compassion and courage
to risk ourselves for those we serve,
to the glory of God the Father.
