Preparation Safety Respect Responsibility

5 Expectations In the Classroom
What does Mrs. Kuzmicki expect of me in class? Do I need to ask to use the restroom?

6 Respect What Respect looks like in the classroom:
Value yourself and others Be an active learner Value diversity, refrain from using language that may be insulting or insensitive Respect the learning environment by minimizing distractions Respect yours, others, and school property Accept adult correction (how do you respond?) Show enthusiasm! 

7 Safe What Safe looks like in the classroom:
Hands and feet to self, don’t touch others Be aware of your surroundings Always have a pass to exit the classroom Sign out and in when exiting and entering the classroom Only clear water allowed (no other food or drinks ever) Keep traffic areas clear Follow all science safety guidelines

8 Responsible What Responsible looks like in the classroom:
Arrive to class on time Be prepared for class Bring all necessary materials- binder with science section, any handouts and a pencil/writing utensil Stay on Task Complete assignments in a timely manner Assist others who need a helping hand Do not leave the classroom until Mrs. Kuzmicki dismisses (in an orderly fashion)

9 What does staying on task LOOK like?
Immediately begin the warm-up activity when entering the classroom Raise your hand when you have a comment, otherwise there should not be talking during class discussions. >>Attention getter=lights off or bell Follow instructions for all assignments, activities and labs, especially safety expectations. Behave as the respectful, safe, and responsible student that I know you can be.

10 Preparation Safety Respect Responsibility P.S.R.R.
What if I don’t follow the PBiS Guidelines? Preparation Safety Respect Responsibility P.S.R.R.

11 PBiS (P.S.R.R ) Consequences:
3 Strikes: Students receive 1 warning, the second time you will conference with Mrs. Kuzmicki in the hall. If there is a third consequence the student will finish the class period in another classroom and Mrs. Kuzmicki will make a phone call to parents. Students may also receive a consequence if… Student shows gross disrespect Exhibits a physical safety issue Demonstrates an ongoing behavior

12 Late to class… Tardy Policy
The classroom door will be closed as soon as the tardy bell rings When you arrive come in quietly. Do not speak! Place the tardy slip on my desk (in the back of the room). After second tardy your parents will be called.

13 Wait…what about the restroom?
And…what do I need to do if I am absent and need to make up my work?

14 Using the restroom… Restroom use is only permitted if it is an emergency. Must use sign out sheet on the clipboard by the door and take the pass with you. When is it appropriate to ask to go to the restroom? Best time is at the end of class or if you are finished with class activity/independent seatwork.

15 Fire drills and other emergency procedures
Quickly line up single file and QUIETLY move to my back door. Go down the back stairs and out to the field (track). Quietly wait in line until dismissed Re-enter the building w/o talking Phone call home if you do not follow the rules/expectations for the drill
