What Are We Learning?
2nd Quarter
It’s all about Veterans Day and Me On The Map!
Spelling This Week
Letterland Unit 8 – which is the long vowel sound at the end of short words and the sound of i spelled with a y (my, why, etc.)
We will send home the spelling for next week on Thursday.
Turkey Disguise Homework
Please send back your child’s turkey disguise this week. You can send it back anytime this week if it is done.
Report Cards Go Home on November 7th. If you would like to have a follow up conference or have any questions, please let me know.
Thursday is CCE Shirt Day.
No School on Friday.
Math – (1.NBT.4) I can add to 100 (2-digit number and a 1-digit number; 2-digit number and a multiple of 10)
We will continue to work on addition strategies of two digit numbers and multiples of 10 (65 +20) and two digit numbers and a one digit number ( 85+ 4) using 120 charts and other math strategies this week.
ELA – (1.RL.1a)I can ask and answer questions about key details in a text.
(1.RL.2a) I can retell a story using important details.
(1.RI.1a) I can answer questions about key details in a text.
(1.RI. 2b) I can retell key details of a text.
(1.W.3) Writing Narratives containing two events.
Science – This week we will be focusing on Social Studies but will start our unit on the moon shortly.
Social Studies –(1.H.1.3) I can describe national holidays and why they are celebrated.
We will integrate our PYP Unit of Who We Are by using lessons on Me On the Map. The focus of this PYP Unit is to understand yourself to help us understand others.
Communicator is the Learner Profile this month.
Our Spanish phrase of the week is: Buenos communicadores – which means communicator.
