(A), Western blot analysis of DAZL protein. Proteins were extracted from the following tissue: lane 1 = testis; lane 2 = spermatozoa; lane 3 = kidney; lane 4 = lung; lane 5 = liver; lane 6 = spleen; lane 7 = skin; lane 8 = placenta. A monoclonal antibody to β-actin was used as a positive control (upper zone). A protein of ∼33.5 kDa was detected exclusively in adult testis and semen (middle zone). Both bands were inhibited by pre-incubation of the antibody by the immunogen (lower zone).
