2 What is Alcohol? According to CAMH, Alcohol is commonly known as a “depressant” drug, which affects the behavior and thinking process of a person due to the slowing down of the brain cells.

3 Pure alcohol, which is referred to as “Ethyl”, is a clear and colorless liquid. Alcoholic beverages will obtain their coloring from other ingredients which is where the process of fermentation comes in affect.

4 Who is affected by alcohol abuse?
According to a 2010 survey, 77 per cent of Canadians aged 15 and older abused alcohol in the past year.

5 Alcohol In the Media According to NCBI.gov, 53 percent of television programs most popular with teens portray alcohol use

6 More episodes portrayed drinking as an overall positive experience (40 percent) rather than a negative one (10 percent)

7 Alcohol is presented as a means of appearing to be adult and grownup of high socioeconomic status, attractive, and glamorous

9 Medical Evidence Researchers have linked alcohol consumption to more than 60 diseases including cirrhosis of the liver and injuries sustained in automobile accidents.
