According to CAMH, Alcohol is commonly known as a “depressant” drug, which affects the behavior and thinking process of a person due to the slowing down of the brain cells.

3. Pure alcohol, which is referred to as “Ethyl”, is a clear and colorless liquid. Alcoholic beverages will obtain their coloring from other ingredients which is where the process of fermentation comes in affect.

4. Who is affected by alcohol abuse?
According to a 2010 survey, 77 per cent of Canadians aged 15 and older abused alcohol in the past year.

6. More episodes portrayed drinking as an overall positive experience (40 percent) rather than a negative one (10 percent)

Researchers have linked alcohol consumption to more than 60 diseases including cirrhosis of the liver and injuries sustained in automobile accidents.
