It affects how people live. It affects the outcome of major events.

4 Location: There are two types of LOCATION!!
Absolute- is found by using latitude and Longitude. Relative- Relating it to nearby features

5 Movement: How are people linked together?
Movement describes how… How people in one area contact people in other areas

6 PEOPLE AND THEIR PERSONAL STUFF

8 Movement: Through movement we connect all of our world together.
This is called globalization! When we are interdependent on each other for our economy, culture, politics, socialization, and technology.

9 Region: What does it have in common?
A region describes: Areas that have something in common Regions can be: BIG or small

10 There are three types of Regions
Formal Functional Perceptual

11 A Formal Region is an. . . Region:
Area in which a certain characteristic is found throughout the area Example: City, State, Country, Continent

12 Have one central place and is surrounded by the areas it affects
Region: Functional Regions Have one central place and is surrounded by the areas it affects Example: Hershey, PA

13 Example: The Rust Belt, The South
Region: Perceptual Regions is defined by people’s feelings and attitudes about an area. Example: The Rust Belt, The South

14 Place: What is it like?

15 Each PLACE on Earth has it own: DISTINCT CHARACTERISTICS
Two types: Human Or Physical (something that makes it different than any other place in the world) Physical Features include the landforms and bodies of water found on the earth

16 HEI: How do we interact with our environment?
Human/Environment Interaction explains how people use and change their environment. Changes to the environment can be Good, Bad, or Both!
