1 Writing Lab Comma Use Game

2 Rules Each team member will read a sentence and select the correct answer for five points. Points will be doubled after the first round. Total points will be added at the end and a winner declared.

3 Comma Rules Rule One: Always place a comma after introductory words, phrases, or clauses.

4 Comma Rules Rule Two: Always place a comma between two independent clauses separated by a conjunction (and, or, but, nor, so, for, yet).

5 Comma Rules Rule Three: Place commas around nonrestrictive elements.

6 Comma Rules Rule Four: Always place commas between items in a series (words, dates, geographical locations, numbers, titles).
