8 Integrated curriculum
The Integrated Curriculum model (ICM) which has been uses worldwide to design differentiated curriculum, instruction, and assessment units of study for gifted learners. (Joyce Vantassel- Baska, Susannah Wood, 2009)

9 Integrated curriculum
Curriculum integration has received considerable attention in recent years and many educators promote the ides because of its many advantages. (Johnsen, 2000).

10 Integrated curriculum
The new curriculum enables students to acquire knowledge and skills which are applicable in real life situations. (Benbow & Stanley, 1983)

11 Vocational high school
As the Taiwanese economy boomed and technology, advanced, junior colleges, technological colleges, and universities were founded to provide further education for students graduating from vocational high school. (His-chi Hsiao, et al., 2008)

12 Vocational high school
Vocational high school curricula in Taiwan have historically been based on the National curriculum guidelines. Thus, schools didn’t don’t have much freedom in curriculum development. (His-chi Hsiao, et al., 2008)

13 Reading Ability Principles for reading:
Teachers have to select what students want to read what easy to read with wide range articles and encourage them to read as much as possible. The purpose of reading is usually related to pleasure, information and general understanding. (Day and Bamford, 2002)

14 Reading Ability Slow readers do not read much, and if they do not read much, they do not understand. If they do not understand, then they cannot enjoy reading. (Koda, 2005)

15 Summary When the curriculum is based on broad concepts linked in various units, students may acquire knowledge in very different ways, making the knowledge more meaningful.

16 Summary This is an area that has not been fully explored in the research on integrated curriculum in Taiwan.
