Students participate in intramural sports
Wellness Program Brownsville Learning Academy utilizes intramural team sports as fellowship-building exercises, allowing unity and communication to lead students through cooperative efforts Red Ribbon Week – Rated Unacceptable CATCH Binder – Rated Recognized - We tested 90% of our students and have documentation for the untested students. – we are Acceptable We hosted or sponsored in at least 1 activity and participated in at least 2 wellness-related activities. Community and Parental Involvement
Students and parents meet with local community leaders Local Parental involvement includes parents assisting with school activities, monthly parent meetings, and constant communication between families and faculty. We provided 5 to 10 activities for the year. We are Acceptable - We had at least a 1% increase in parental participation. We are Recognized. - Campus hosted and/or sponsored at least 4 community service projects. We are Acceptable Brownsville Learning Academy

Students participating in college and career fairs Career and college readiness is integral to BLA’s function as an alternative campus. - Our counselors have 100% of our PGP’s complete. We are Acceptable - 90% of our HS eligible students in Grade 12 tested on a normed/standardized test (TSI) We are Exemplary Brownsville Learning Academy

Second Language Acquisition
ELL Students participate in language acquisition activities. Facilities for ELL and ESL learners are imperative to the framework of an alternative campus like BLA. Here, we assist students with developing the language skills necessary for involvement in a bilingual community. - ELL students were provided with cultural awareness experience. We are Acceptable Intervention plans for ELL students – We are Recognized. - Parents participated in program activities/meetings informing them of ELL services. We are Recognized. -Teachers serving ELL students have received at least 12 hours of professional development in sheltered instruction, etc. We are Recognized. Brownsville Learning Academy

Digital Learning Environment
With a 2:1 student/computer ratio, and 6 stocked computer labs, BLA boasts BISD’s largest computer network, allowing students a wide range of technological assistance to achieve their educational goals. Campus faculty completed professional development with technology s a Tool to assist student learning, etc. – We are Recognized. - Innovative technology initiatives were implemented such as project-based learning with technology, flipped classrooms, clickers, etc. We are Recognized. - Digital Citizenship (cyber bullying) training was provided for students, etc. We are Recognized.
