Requirements for Designation: Balanced representation Community engagement activities Financial and administrative functions Identify regional health needs, resources and priorities Operating budget and sustainability planning Ongoing ACH work (SIM and beyond)

6 ACH-Tribal Engagement
Guidance Sent to ACHs in 2014 Tribal engagement by ACHs continues to be a priority ACHs should reach out to each Tribe and allow each Tribe to decide whether or not they will participate and how they will coordinate their participation State maintains government-to-government relations with the Tribes; ACHs need to respect this HCA is developing a Tribal coordination plan Experience since then: ACHs at various stages of engagement with Tribes HCA has contracted with the American Indian Health Commission for Washington State for assistance in developing a Tribal coordination plan

7 ACH-Tribal Engagement: AIHC Project
Goals for 2016: To inform ACHs on the government-government relationship To inform Tribes/UIHOs on the function/role of ACHs in WA To gather information on what the Tribes/UIHOs want for ACH engagement Report and recommendations due January 31, 2017 Potential parallel model for Tribes/UIHOs: Tribal Coordinating Entity
