Typing of human metapneumovirus (hMPV) according to fusion gene PCR–restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) analysis. A partial fusion gene was amplified by PCR and analysed following digestion with Tsp509I. Detection of hMPV generated a 348-bp product. Lanes: 1 and 15, 100-bp DNA molecular size ladder (Tracklt; Invitrogen, Carlsbad, CA, USA); 2 and 3, hMPV lineage B1; 4 and 5, hMPV lineage B2; 6–8, hMPV lineage A1; 9–11, hMPV lineage A2a; 12–14, hMPV lineage A2b.
