Inward Battles turn into Outward Conflicts: (vs.1) “desires for pleasure” TRANSFORMATION changes the game: (The Jesus Moment when 2 Cor 5:17 happens?) THE GREATEST NEED OF HUMANITY IS peace with God and peace with one another The ‘desire for pleasure’ is always a threat to the spiritual life. “Friend of the World…Enemy of God”

Self-Reliance always leads me away from God: (vs.2) “Lust, murder, covet, fight, war” Lust only satisfies on the surface, it results in “empty” Covetousness is the ultimate selfishness: “Friend of the World…Enemy of God”

4 “Friend of the World…Enemy of God”
Prayer with the wrong motives ends in emptiness: (vs.3) God is still on the outside looking in. [I Cor 6:20 and Rom 15:6] End Result: Unfulfilled “Friend of the World…Enemy of God”

5 “Friend of the World…Enemy of God”
Friend of the world is an enemy with God: (vs.4) THE ACCUSATION: Accused of Adultery: (the violation of a relationship covenant) THE CONSEQUENCE: enemy of God; enmity is distance and disgrace. “Friend of the World…Enemy of God”

6 “Friend of the World…Enemy of God”
How does this get fixed? (vs.5,6) PURSUED BY THE SPIRIT: Grace is a healer: Humility is the way up: “Friend of the World…Enemy of God”
