ABOUT RATHI STEEL AND POWER LTD. Rathi Steel And Power Ltd (erstwhile Rathi Udyog Ltd) is a part of the P.C. Rathi Group of Delhi.The Group owes its presence in the steel industry to the farsightedness of late Seth Gordhan Das Rathi. He setup a small re-rolling mill in Delhi in the early 40s. Since then the Group has grown continuously. Shri Gordhan Das Rathi's commitment to quality, integrity, honesty, and growth is being followed till date. The Company was founded by Shri Punam Chand Rathi (1934-2010) who was well known in the Steel Industry with experience of over six decades in steel melting and rolling/re-rolling. Our Company is a profit making, dividend paying and listed company. We are engaged in manufacturing of Rebars and Wire Rods which are broadly categorized as the Long Products in the Steel Industry. Wire rods, another product being currently manufactured by us are further drawn into wires, which has various industrial applications. Wire Rod Mills Wire rod mills are rolling mills for rolling steel billets into wire rods. These mills are normally designed with versatility in mind since there are vast varieties of the requirements from the wire rod customers. These mills need reliable equipment, process consistency, production flexibility and waste management. These mills are to highly productive and need capabilities for efficient rolling of all size ranges, types and qualities of steels. These mills are to maximize productivity through process optimization, by minimizing downtime and seamless interlinking of production stages. Wire rod mills are high speed mills capable of rolling of smaller dimensions at higher production rate. These mills have single strands to four strands. Wire rod mills are capable of rolling at speeds ranging from 50 m/s to 120m/s. Typical diameters of wire rods are in the range of 5mm to 15 mm.

Rolls used in the wire rod mills are of various kinds Rolls are grooved before their assembly in the roll stands Roughing stand rolls require resistance to abrasion and thermal resistance Intermediate stand rolls need higher hardness and surface quality Material for rolls is nodular cast iron or cast alloy steel Tungsten carbide roll ring are used in finishing rolls
