Connection Calls Over the next week, you will be making Connection Calls with your families. Make a connection call to ALL of your students and log a TotalView note (see QRG on how to properly log the note). During these calls, avoid the “information dump” and instead focus on making a connection with the student and family. Please use the Connection Call Agenda template to guide your call. You will fill this out and copy and paste it into the body of the Total View note. If families begin to ask you all sorts of questions, tell them right now you are calling to welcome them to school and get to know them. Then tell them to attend our orientation session at 10:00am on August 8th and you will go over expectations and answer all questions at that time. You will be holding grade level breakout sessions afterwards where you can address questions. If you cannot reach a family, log a note stating you tried calling AND call again the next day. Multiple attempts must be made to reach each family during these days.

Modifying expected settings
Any student who with an enrollment date of 8/15/18 or after should have their settings modified in the OLS. Default is set at 100%. Leave this default for all students that started on the first day of school. Also, any student promoting in a course mid-year, will need to have their settings modified in the OLS. C Expected Start Dates need to be modified to reflect a start date two weeks after the enrollment date to accommodate for families waiting for materials. You can find the Enrollment Date in the OLS, in the student’s account, under Student Info
11
Steps to Modify Expected Settings:
Sign into the OLS. Find new student’s Enrollment Date Follow directions below to determine Expected Settings modifications Using Expected Settings Calculator for New Students (in your teacher tracker): Enter date with 14 day grace period in column title “Type Adjusted Start Date” – for example, if enrollment date was 8/16/18, then you will type 8/30/18 in that column. The number calculated in the column titled “% needed for 100% of Expected Progress” is what you will put into the OLS… See below
12
Go into new student OLS account
Select Modify Expected Settings. Input modified start date (2 weeks after enrollment date) and Completion Goals for each course based on Progress Setting Calculator PLEASE NOTE: Keep K-8 Intro to Online Learning and any Math Appendix course at 100%; set Music and PE to 0 Select Save. DO NOT change Expected Start Date under Attendance at the bottom of the screen. See on next slides
