This is where you introduce yourself verbally- talk about experience and credentials/educational background. Notes will guide you to personalize this PowerPoint. It can be displayed on a TV, audio visual screen, smart board or a large white sheet of paper if necessary. (4th) Grade (Ms. Maher)

Remind App – Please sign up Homework – Monday-Thursday Be on time and prepared to learn. Class begins at 8 A.M. I cannot stress the importance being on time. You are marked late once the Scout Room doors close. Your child MUST be in the proper/complete uniform everyday. Note the primary to intermediate. May wish to change title if 4th or 5th grade. Add or delete any slides to better fit your needs and style. Each page can be personalized.

Behavior Policy Student responsible for self: his/her classwork, behavior, and homework Positive incentives will be awarded for both individual and group behavior. Consequences are for personal behavior only. Consequences will always be discussed with the individual child’s parents. Again, note primary to intermediate.

What About Homework? Assigned Monday-Thursday
Written in homework book and sent out via Remind App. Due the following day. Read for 30 minutes or more daily. Homework is factored into your child’s report card grade. Special projects will be allotted more time and given specific instructions. Change per teacher policy.

Progress Reports A, B, C, D, F grades will be used for report cards.
Anything below 70 is failing. 1,2,3,4 for work habits and conduct You will be notified via progress report if your child is in jeopardy of failing. Add report card dates. Change per district policy.

What About Class Work and Tests?
Class work and tests will be sent home at regular intervals for a signature, then returned to school. All work for that grading period will factor in the report card. I will send a progress to those in jeopardy at the trimester’s mid-way point. Change per teacher policy.

What About Communications?
School newsletters, teacher notes and letters will be sent home. I sent regular remind app communication. I can be reached via the Remind app or If you wish to speak to me regarding any issue, please arrange an appointment to either meet or have a phone conference. Change per actual methods used.

What About Discipline? Teacher will…
Redirect and refocus attention to task Have a private conversation to determine student’s level of understanding I have a no tolerance policy towards bullying and or physical interactions. Parents will be contacted immediately and appropriate action will be taken.

Teacher’s Job? Organized classroom environment
Clarity of lessons and explanations Individual student goals Grade level goals In a way this is a continuation of the discipline in a classroom. Discipline or lack of it, is many times a product of misunderstanding - what are the students suppose to do? Where are the papers, materials, etc.? How much time do they have to accomplish this?

Parents’ Job? Check for completeness of homework. Return papers.
Communicate any concerns or helpful information about your child. Change to reflect teacher’s way of work.

“The parent is the first teacher, the home is the first school and reading is the first lesson.”
Parents may be able to accomplish the child’s education, but a teacher shouldn’t be without the support of the home. No one will be satisfied with the outcome if the home and the school are separate worlds. We have a partnership.
