Personal Social Emotional Development Communication and Language Rushton Primary Early Years Topic Web Objectives Use past, present and future forms accurately when talking about events. Making up stories around animals and topic. Trip to the zoo. Talking about trip after- what happened, what did we see etc? Listening to stories and facts about animals. Objectives Children play co-operatively taking turns with each other. Take account of one another’s ideas about how to organise their activity. Confidently speak in a group about their ideas and chose resources they need for chosen activities. Adjust their behaviour to different social situations and take changes of routine in their stride. Activities Turn taking games based on topic e.g. jungle snap. Provision based activities allowing children to organise and work as a team- jungle assault course Present work they have created to their friends. School trip to the zoo. Team work activities- Forest Schools, outdoor activities. Physical Development Objectives Activities Letter and number formation weekly activity to support writing Soccer Lions PE- obstacle course/move like jungle animals Healthy diet discussions during snack times Using clay and tools to create jungle animals Activities to support using tools- forest school, play dough. cutting. Spring 2 Jungle Explorers Objectives Sing songs, make music and dance. Explore the different sounds of instruments. Children use what they have learned about media and materials in different ways thinking about uses and purposes. Represent their own ideas through music, dance, art, role play and design and technology. Activities Role play- Jungle explorers Jungle themed art- painting animals or scenery- link to Henri Rousseau Clay modelling jungle animals. Go to the jungle- what can we see/hear/smell/feel? Paper plate animal masks. Lear jungle themed songs and add instruments/dances to songs. Objectives Maths Activities Activities Number formation weekly Counting activities with jungle animals/objects- adding/taking away/doubling/halving/sharing. Sharing food between animals Animals went in 2 by 2- counting in 2’s. What time is it Mr Wolf- o’clock activities 3D shape activities- properties Weighing out drinks for different animals (capacity) Sorting by size/weight. Measure how far animals travel- distance. Understanding of the World Literacy Count reliably with numbers to 20 placing them in order and say which number is one more/less, Solve problems including doubling, halving and sharing. Add and subtract with two single digit numbers. Use everyday language to talk about size, weight, capacity, position, distance, time and money. Explore characteristics of everyday objects and shapes and use mathematical language to describe them. Show interest in shapes in environment.
