1 [Introduce who you are]
Thank you for providing this opportunity to discover more about All We Can - who we are, what we do and how we work. All We Can is the new name for the Methodist Relief and Development Fund, or MRDF,* which for over 70 years has been helping some of the world's poorest communities. This has only been made possible because of the generosity of our supporters — churches and individuals passionate in their commitment to make a difference to their world. So thank you for any support you have given in the past, and for how you may become involved in the future. Our name, All We Can, communicates something of our commitment and ambition. It was inspired by the words of John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, who appealed to the conscience of others by saying: *This message is only relevant for those already aware of the Methodist Relief and Development Fund Photo: Jeanne Bangirinama was supported by All We Can’s partner SOEDC when she returned to her village after Burundi’s civil war ended. Seeds, tools, training and a loan helped Jeanne to start growing enough food to feed her family. (c) All We Can / Purple Flame Media

2 “Do all the good you can. By all the means you can
“Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can. At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as ever you can.” This is a strong call to action, one that takes people’s value seriously and recognises our ability to make a difference to our world.

3 This is why All We Can exists ‒ to help people in some of the world’s poorest communities to become all that they can. All We Can believes that wherever people live in the world or whatever their situation may be, everyone has God-given potential. 4 This is why All We Can’s vision is that every person’s potential is fulfilled.

6 Do all you can. The film we have just watched showed us how All We Can is helping people in some of the world’s poorest communities become all that they can. It ends with that challenge to do all we can. I am going to spend the last few minutes of this presentation saying a bit more about those four ways you can become involved.

7 Firstly, use your voice to speak out.
We believe that if we are to do all we can to create lasting change for people living in poverty, we need to speak out with an active, courageous and prophetic voice calling for justice. All We Can offers you and your church everything you need to make your voice effective against injustice. We can provide you with up-to-date information on our most recent campaigns, stories of how our partners are using their voice, and give you the resources and ideas to take action. Our latest campaign action pack is available now online (from Alternatively fill in the resource form that I have with me after this presentation, to get it sent to you. 8 Secondly, pray with us. We believe that prayer makes a significant difference to our work, because God is concerned for those in need. Inspire your prayers by being kept up to date with the work of All We Can, subscribe to our newsletter that gets sent three times a year, and to our monthly e-news. I have brought a sign-up sheet with me today if you wish to join either of these mailings All We Can also supplies worship resources, such as bible studies and services at special times of the year, including Harvest and Mothering Sunday. These resources help you to engage your faith within a global context and inspire you with stories from All We Can's work. 9 Thirdly share our story.
All We Can is making a significant impact in the poor communities it helps, and we believe that this is worth talking about. All We Can only has a small staff team in London, so it appreciates the people who volunteer their time to share and spread our story. Co-ordinators are people who offer to be their church’s point of contact, where they receive up-to-date information on the resources and opportunities available to their church.* Is that something you are willing to do? It is also possible to become, like me, a volunteer speaker for All We Can. Where you can use your voice to share All We Can’s story with more people. If you are interested in being a co-ordinator or a speaker then please talk to me after this presentation and I will provide you with more information. * This may be adapted to the audience you are addressing such as group, circuit or district. 10 Lastly I would like to ask you to give all you can.
One of the best ways you can do this as an individual is by making a commitment to give each month through a direct debit, of say, £10. In Burundi £10 would train a village of farmers in how to store and conserve their produce, and in India £10 would provide seven women with a variety of seeds to plant, helping them provide for their families. Forms are available today if you wish to make a regular or a one off gift. Or if you’re not able to give at this time, would you consider making a future commitment to All We Can in your will? And as a church or group, you can give regularly. You may wish to do this through our Partner a Project scheme; where you can choose a project to support, enabling you to form a personal connection to another community in the world. Having a regular income we can rely on allows us to plan effectively and make a long term commitment to our partners. So any help you can give will make a significant difference. 11 Thank you for listening to All We Can’s story -
About who we are - a charity that has given expression to Jesus' call to love our neighbour About what we do - help people in some of the world's poorest communities to become all that they can And about how we do it - working with passionate local partners, responding to humanitarian emergencies, and tackling the causes of poverty through advocacy. We believe that this is a story worth sharing, but more than this, we believe that it is a story worth joining. I started this presentation with John Wesley's appeal, which begun ‘Do all the good your can’. So what about it, will this be your story too? Will you join with us and do all you can?
