Illness - what parents need to know …
If a student is ill on the day of an exam tell the school immediately. Get a self certification form, (JCQ/ME Form 14) from reception or a Doctor’s note & give it to Mrs Bond asap. A student should try to turn-up & write in an exam when ill - the board will use a JCQ/ME Form 14 or Doctor’s note to make allowance for poor performance. Even with a Doctor’s note the Exam Board will not award a grade unless a student has completed 25% of the assessments/exams. If you believe there are extenuating circumstances affecting your child’s performance - let the exam team know directly.
12
Revision Full attendance in school will be expected until the last exam has been sat. The Exams Info Booklet gives a list of all extra revision sessions & some general revision advice. GCSE Booklet-What can a parent do? Lunch time computer access. The GCSE exams start in the week beginning 13th May but there are NEA assessment deadlines beforehand.
