SS6CG1, SS6CG4, SS6CG6 The student will compare and contrast various forms of government. (b) Explain how governments determine citizen participations: autocratic, oligarchic, and democratic.

2 There are three types of citizen participation in government:
Autocratic Oligarchic Democratic

3 Autocratic POWER *ruled by a single person *holds ALL power
*NO citizen participation Government Citizens Example: Hitler

4 Oligarchic POWER *ruled by a small group of people with wealth or power Government Citizens, chosen few Example: King and his advisors

5 Democratic POWER *people hold supreme power
*people elect leaders and rule by majority POWER Government Citizens Example: Sonny Perdue, Governor of Georgia
