BEXLEY BIG NOISE STEM LOGO COMPETITION Sponsored by
2
Bexley Big Noise STEM logo competition.
434 entries were received from schools across the borough and it was an extremely difficult job to decide on the top 100, let alone the top 10. The Science and Maths consultants for Bexley spent a number of hours sifting through all the entries. Logos that were clear, eye catching and paid attention to the different areas of science, technology, engineering and maths were those that stood out. Once the consultants had decided on the top 10 (although they actually chose 11 because the standards were so high) they sent them to the final judges at Texas Instruments. Texas Instruments very kindly sponsored this competition. They are a company who make electronic instruments, such as calculators and probes, and they were extremely impressed with the designs from the finalists. In the end, the judges picked the winning design and you can see it on your screen along with the other finalists [press space bar or click the mouse]. Congratulations to the overall winner Theo Costaras, a year 7 pupil from Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School. The judges said that the winning design was made up of well chosen symbols that showed an understanding for each of the STEM subjects and appropriateness for a school audience. They also commented that it could be easily adapted and would work well in colour as well as black and white. Theo will win a TI Nspire handheld machine. The top 100 entries (including the finalists shown here) will win a Texas Instrument goodie bag and everyone who took part will get a certificate. And here [press the space bar or click the mouse twice], you can see the final logo based on the winning design. The final version has been amended slightly to incorporate the full title of the Bexley Big Noise STEM project and the letters have been altered so that they stand out more from their backgrounds. The people involved in the Bexley Big Noise STEM would like to thank all of those students who entered a design. There were an exceptional number of entries and the amount of effort that people put in to their logos was exemplary. All entrants will receive a certificate and the Top 100 entries will receive a Goodie Bag provided by our sponsors, Texas Instruments. The logo competition marks the start of the Bexley Big Noise STEM year in Bexley – keep your eyes open for more opportunities that you can get involved in.
