Review Parallel Structure
Mr. President, I want to let you know something. One group, one person or one ideology does not hold responsibility for the government shutdown. It is the whole governmental body – the House, the Senate, the Republicans, the Democrats and you. You all share the blame equally. All of you squabble and fight over political motives, strategies, ideas. Yet you do not care what is in the best interest of the people you allegedly represent. What you are collectively doing to this nation is bleeding it dry. It is sick and it is wrong. I echo the words that started this country – taxation without representation. I also call upon my fellow Americans to write your representatives. Tell them how wrong this is. Tell them to fix it. Represent us. Identify the parallel structure in this letter. What is the Author’s claim? What evidence does he give to support his claim? Justify your response (explain why/how your evidence proves this claim.

Maybe your parents make you do too many chores or watch your siblings or won’t let you stay out late.
