2 Figure 1 How group behaviour is determined by individuals’ personalities. The new study by Jolles et al. [3] unravels how individuals’ personality differences, measured as sociability and exploration (A) impact within group sorting (B), between group structure (C), and the functional outcomes, i.e. foraging success, of a group (D). They develop a simple, yet elegant simulation model (E) that captures the empirically observed results. Their findings open up future work (E) for empiricists and theoreticians interested in the interplay between animal personality and collective behaviour.
