Executive Branch Learning the ins and outs Unit 1 Lesson 2

2 Executive Branch (EB) It is the job of the Executive branch to execute, enforce, the laws created by the Legislative branch. The EB is very large today and has many people in it, but there is one person who is in control. The Executive Branch handles much of the day-to-day working of the country.

3 Executive Branch (EB) The President is also called the Chief Executive. Currently our president is: Donald J. Trump

4 Executive Branch (EB) To help the president run the country he has a second in command or Vice-president Currently the Vice-president is: Michael Pence

5 Executive Branch (EB) Every 4 years the people must elect a new president The president can only hold office for 2 terms or a total of 8 years.

6 Executive Branch (EB) What makes a person qualified to become the next president of the United States? A natural born citizen of the USA 35 years old or older Be a resident of the USA for at least 14 years That’s it!

7 Executive Branch (EB) Details about the presidency:
The salary is $400,000 a year plus a $50,000 expense account Election day is the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November Inauguration Day is January 20th The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court will swear in the new president

8 Executive Branch (EB) The president’s job is not an easy one.
There are 5 categories that the jobs can be put into: Commander in Chief (leader) Chief Executive Chief of State Chief Legislator Chief of Party
