Warm Up – August 15, 2017 1. Does y vary directly with x? If so, what is the constant of variation and the function rule? 2. Determine whether y varies directly with x in 6x – 3 = 2y – 3. If so, what is the constant of variation? 3. Y varies directly with x, and y = 24 when x = -15. What is x when y = 16? X 2 5 10 Y 12.5 25

During: 2‐3 Linear Functions and Slope‐Intercept Form Learning Targets: ‐ I can graph linear equations. ‐ I can write equations of lines. Key Terms: slope, linear function, linear equation, y‐intercept, x‐intercept, slope‐intercept
4
Key Terms: slope ‐ the ratio of the vertical change to the horizontal change. linear function ‐ a function whose graph is a line. linear equation ‐ an equation with both x and y that can be written like y = 6x ‐ 4. y‐intercept ‐ the point at which the line crosses the y‐axis. x‐intercept ‐ the point at which the line crosses the x‐axis. slope‐intercept form ‐ y = mx + b, where m is the slope of the line and (0,b) is the y‐intercept.
