What is Aquaculture? Aquaculture is the cultivation and harvest of aquatic animals and organisms for human consumption. Examples of aquaculture includes raising catfish and tilapia, growing clams, or farming salmon on lakes, oceans, or on land.

Creates jobs Feeds and provides food for humans Can reduce the need for manual fishing Can benefit the economy Encourages local businesses Can effect surrounding aquatic fishers and harvesters Disease and parasites can accumulate and spread to the fish and the surrounding marine animals.
