Collaborative Research Network
May 2013 – May 2014

CRNs The following presentation demonstrates the developing networks of collaboration, measured through publications – but do not include other activities or outputs, such as grants, workshops, seminars and mentoring/supervision These networks are spread across three areas, Nursing, the Centre for Children and Young People, and the Centre for Tourism, Leisure and Work

CTLW Summary The CTLW has a core group of XX CRN members
In May 2013 these members collaborated with a total of 45 people, producing 50 published outputs By May 2014 the network of collaboration had expanded to include 87, and a total combined output of 165 publications

May 2013 CTLW

Nov 2013 CTLW

May 2014 CTLW

Nursing Summary Nursing has a core group of XX CRN members
In May 2013 these members collaborated for a total of 29 people, producing 22 published outputs By May 2014 the network of collaboration had expanded to include 80 people, with a total combined output of 66 publications

May 2013 Nursing

Nov 2013 Nursing

May 2014 Nursing

CCYP Summary The CCYP has a core group of XX CRN members
In May 2013 these members collaborated with a total of 52 people, producing 30 published outputs By May 2014 the network of collaboration had expanded to include 83, and a total combined output of 90 publications

Nov 2013 CCYP

May 2014 CCYP

Collaboration The effect on collaboration within the CRN is demonstrated through the increasing size and complexity of the authorship networks The following slides show the progressive complexity in networks for each of the three areas

Ben FarrWharton – A Case Study
Ben FarrWharton is a PhD student supported through the CRN Ben’s involvement in the CRN has given him the opportunity to form collaborative linkages with other researchers, and has impacted his output

Publication Network 2012

Publication Network 2013

Publication Network 2014

Complete CRN Network The following set of networks map track the collaboration of CRN members (in blue), and the introduction of new associates (in red), across the three schools As of May 2014 the three schools have begun to publish from these collaborative linkages: 321 publications with 255 collaborators

May 2013

Nov 2013

May 2014

Conclusion Though the network structure requires more analysis, the 34 core CRN members have formed productive collaborative linkages with an average of % of 241 members of the total network At least two members of the CRN have produced collaborative with more than 12% of other members
