Description of Level 1 Recall & Reproduction 2 Skills and Concepts 3 Strategic Thinking & Reasoning 4 Extended Thinking
10
Level 1: Recall and Reproduction
In Level 1 the student either knows the answer or does not. It does not need to be figured out. It can be a more difficult recall question such as Euler’s formula or something the students are very familiar with such the formula for an area of a square.
11
Level 1: Recall and Reproduction
Recall facts One-step problem Apply a formula Retrieve information Represent relationships
12
Level 2: Skills and Concepts
A level 2 task goes beyond recall. It involved using multiple steps or multiple concepts. It involves explaining “why” something works.
13
Level 2: Skills and Concepts
Use models Solve a routine problem Multi-step problems Compare/contrast; classify Translate between different formats
14
Level 3: Strategic Thinking and Reasoning
15
Level 3 Strategic Thinking & Reasoning
Solve non-routine problems Make and justify conjectures Generalize a pattern Describe, compare & contrast solution methods Synthesize information
