What is Q? A connected community working together to improve health and care quality across the UK Supports people in their existing improvement work: making it easier to share ideas, enhance skills and make changes that benefit patients Connecting / Networking / Sharing / Stealing / Peer support / Creative space / Sparking ideas UK wide. In KSS we have been working to connect across the region, this extends our efforts and links well with some of the current KSS work Focus on improvement

This work starts with the Berwick Report and the well-known ambition for the NHS to become a system devoted to continual learning and improvement

What does being a member of Q mean?
A ‘home’ for improvers Raising the profile Knowing more about ‘who is doing what work’ Having Spread and share learning beyond Q Building and strengthening networks and contacts Doing Polite, respectful Challenge constructively Giving Feedback Contributing to building Q Being A very clear slide that enables people to understand what being a member of Q really means.

What does Q look like? Virtual connection Face to face connection
Q is not a taught programme, but a network of support for those already knowledgeable in undertaking improvement. There is no membership fee or minimum time commitment. Q is designed to support busy people with their current improvement work, on-going development and promote their visibility as a leader of improvement. What is the Q Improvement Lab?
AIM: to support the design and large scale adoption of effective, sustainable improvements in the health and care of people, whilst increasing capacity and capabilities to tackle complex, system-wide problems. Growing Q May 2015: 231 founding cohort Oct 2016: 216 pilot including:
National organisations Patient leaders with national profile Wave 1 (Feb 2017): 352 Total Q members: 799 Now in the regional recruitment phase The November regional recruitment in North East NC, West of England and South West AHSN areas welcomed a further 352 Qs Wave 2 applications are currently being processed and we will be announcing new members in June We are the blue phase which includes Public Health Wales, Wessex, Greater Manchester and Eastern AHSNs

Who can join Q? Anticipating 1000s of members from all backgrounds
Applicants need to demonstrate: Experience and understanding of improvement Thoughtful commitment to Q All backgrounds including : Health and social care All professional disciplines All organisations All grades Patients and patient advocates

Experience Do I have experience of improvement ? Collaborating Am I interested in collaborating with others? Knowledge Do I understand improvement? Influence or Impact Have I made a significant contribution beyond a single team ? So, is Q right for me? We have a detailed Decision Tree for you to take away/there are links on the web page In simple terms, ask yourself these key questions about improvement - do you have experience - are you willing to share and collaborate with others - are you knowledgeable - have you made a significant contribution through influencing or impacting others in some way If yes, then yes, Q is right for you…………..
