God Sends Servants! Acts 6:1-7
The Body of Christ Requires Constant Service Therefore God Sends Servants!

I. The “anatomy” of the body of Christ requires constant service
Because the body of Christ… Has needs (verse 1) Is dynamic (verses 1, 3, 5 & 7) Is gifted (verses 2-5)

Christ the unseen cause of a body gifted to serve: Ephesians 4
“But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift” (4:7) Christ gives gifted leaders to the church “to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ…” (4:12) If Christ has gifted His body to serve His body, then His body must have an ongoing need for service! “Service”

The Whole Body must serve: Ephesians 4:15-16
“…we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love”

II. God Sends Servants! Because the body of Christ… Has needs
It’s only a problem when we fail to minister to the need; when we fail to serve. Service is never the problem for our Lord whom we serve says “If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him” (John 12:26)

II. God Sends Servants! Because the body of Christ… Has needs
Is dynamic “What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, as the Lord assigned to each. I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth” (1 Corinthians 3:5-6)

Is dynamic Is gifted and whole Serves for His great purpose!

The body of Christ serves for His great purpose
“You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you” (John 13:13-15)

Great leader? Great Servant! “Here I am! Send Me!”
