3 Expectations in Year 2 Establishing positive role models for the whole school. Taking on more responsibility throughout the school e.g. meet and greet visitors, playtime buddies. Becoming more independent and greater responsibility for their learning. Actively seeking to challenge their thinking.

4 Celebration Praise is vital for children’s self esteem. Praise supports good progress as children feel valued and are more comfortable with taking risks. Individuals are rewarded with stickers. Whole class effort is rewarded with marbles in the jar and the class choosing a marble treat. Achievements are celebrated in our celebration worship e.g. lunchtime award, learning character,

7 My Child’s Progress 3 parent consultation meetings during the year – Autumn, Spring and Summer Term You will be informed of progress and your child’s next steps – their achievements and challenges An open door policy – make an appointment or ask for a chat at the end of the day

8 End of Year (KS1) Assessments
May 2018 Assessment tasks on: Reading Maths Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar

9 Support 1:1 Small groups Reading intervention programmes e.g paired reading, wave 3, five minute box, precision teaching. Maths intervention programmes e.g five minute box. ELSA Circle time

10 English Bits and Bobs Reading Read To Me Books – Adult modelling
reading, enjoy! Each book counts as 1 hour for Children’s University. Home Readers – colour coded, children can change as often as you like. Please sign and any comments would be appreciated. Library books – changed once a week. Spelling – follow Read, Write Inc. sent on a Friday to be returned by Thursday.
