Zeros between non-zeros are sig figs Zeros at the end of a number to the right of a decimal are sig figs

Zeros at the end of a number to the left of an understood decimal are not sig figs…they are place holders. Zeros to the right of a decimal before non-zero numbers are not sig figs…they are place holders.

When adding or subtracting, your answer can have no more sig figs to the right of the decimal than the least accurate measurement. When multiplying or dividing, your answer can have no more sig figs than the least accurate measurement total.

WHEN IN DOUBT, your answer should have the same number of sig figs as the original given.
