Working with music? Some people work better with background music, others do not. It can be distracting if some music interests the listener more than the studying in question! Some research has shown that music improves short-term memory, but is not good for the long-term. Classical Baroque?

Record notes and play back
Colour notes – highlight Flashcards – either with facts on each and/or question on the other side Read out loud Never revise without doing something. Test oneself, do some questions; from book; past papers (but be careful!) Make abbreviations or mnemonics

Pressure – coping. Some pressure is good; too much is bad
Use revision guides Revise in timed “units” (usually up to 50 minutes). Then change and/or stop (for few minutes); use a clock to time, not just stop when “ready” To stay in brain longer, take it in in three ways; listen; read; video; do questions; BBC bitesize In the few minutes break get water/drink and snacks. The brain needs hydration and food Pressure – coping. Some pressure is good; too much is bad

Preparing for Mock Exams
Try to deal with problems from previous mock exams. Choose between 1 and 3 topics or parts of the each exam that have been identified as weak to focus on. Ensure that each topic or part of the exam can be explained in detail. Aim to achieve higher total raw score.
