2 A a is for... Animation Animation clip art is a piece of clip art that has movements and has a file extension of.gif which stands for Graphical Interchange Format. GIFs are common format for Web graphics, especially small images and images that contain text, such as navigation buttons and animation. By Kim Douberley

3 B b is for... Browser A browser is a software program that allows you to explore the World Wide Web. There are several different browsers available including: Internet Explorer, Modzilla Foxfire, Google Chrome, and Opera. By Kim Douberley

4 C c... is for CD-ROM A CD-ROM is a round portable disk that stores large amounts of information. CD-ROM stands for Compact Disk- Read Only Memory. Before you could only read information from CD- ROMs, but now you can also save memory on them. By Justin Acevedo

5 D d... Is for Disk Drive A disk drive is a part of the computer that operates the disks that store information. Disk drives can store information on floppy disks and hard disks. They read data as the disks spins.

7 F f... is for Floppy Disk Floppy Disk: A piece of plastic that you insert into your computer to store information. You can store word documents and other files onto the floppy disk. 8 G g... is for Grouping Grouping- grouping is when you group two shapes together so that the two shapes move as one. In projects for word and power point we have grouped shapes together; especially in our tessellations projects we did a lot of grouping. By: Star Centeno

9 H h... is for HTML HTML (HyperText Markup Language) the language of the web. It is the set of codes used to make Web pages. HTML tells the Browser to create certain font styles, graphics, images, and links. Joy Donglasan

10 I i... is for Icon An icon is a tiny picture on the screen that represents a program, file or folder. Icons are pictures of programs on the desktop so they are easily found and they create a shortcut to the program at school. Compiled by Lexie Freeland

12 K k... is for Keyboard A Keyboard is an input device that has keys that are uses for commands to the computer. On a keyboard there is a command key that allows you to take pictures of you monitor (control then print screen). By Tony Karl

13 L l... is for Left Align The left align icon is used to align text in a word document to the left of the paper. It is used when typing reports or paragraphs, it is most commonly used in word documents. Example of left align By : Rachel LaVo

14 M m... is for Memory Memory is temporary storage space on chips in your computer. Memory is used in school by letting us save our Word or PowerPoint documents onto the server. It also saves our files to use throughout the year. Cassandra Marentes

15 N n... is for Networks A network is a number of computers connected together to share information and hardware. A network is used in our school in many ways. The computers sharing a printer is a network. The internet is also a network because the computers on the internet are connected. Daisy Morris

16 O o... is for Operating System Operating systems perform basic tasks- it manages all the other programs. Operating systems are used even when were just typing on the keyboard, or when the computer is executing the commands we give.

17 P p... is for Portable Network Graphics (PNG) Portable Network Graphics (PNG) is a bitmapped image format that employs lossless data compression. PNG is short for Portable Network Graphics. It is an electronic photo that can be easily transferred from person to person through various ways such as e- mails. The PNG is not used in school, instead school uses the clipart WMF files

18 Q q... is for QuickTime QuickTime is a multimedia technology developed by Apple. It is a popular format for creating and storing sound, graphics, and movies. QuickTime is not used at school because we do not share movie and picture files. Created By: Taylor Tubbs

19 R r... is for Ram Ram is Random – access memory Ram is used for random data that is not stored or uses moving parts. Ram is always used in computers to show data and computers at school need that ram to show data.

20 S s... is for Software Software is a set of programs, or procedures that is used by a computer to run tasks for the user. At school it is used almost everyday because the computer uses it to run programs for us. Compiled By Austin Shurtleff

23 Vv... is for A Virus is a code that is intended to damage computer systems and erase data. In the world there are several viruses that can damage computers, viruses are also referred to as computer bugs.

24 W w is for … Webpage – Webpage: a page on the web prepared and maintained as a collection of information by a person, group, or organization. – It is used for spreading information throughout the web and to help people to keep communicated By: Tyler Wilson

25 X x is for … Active X – Active X- Microsoft-based technology built to link desktop applications to the World Wide Web. Using ActiveX development tools, software developers can create interactive Web content for their applications. – it is used to link desktop applications to the World Wide Web. By: Tyler Wilson

26 Y y is for Yahoo Yahoo is a search engine that helps provide information. Yahoo is like any other search engine, you put in a word or phrase that is closest to the topic you are searching. At school we use search engines, like yahoo, to find websites or pictures depending on the subject.
