Warm Up: Ambition Date:_Monday, September 2nd, 2014 Vocabulary Word: Ambition: Strong desire to achieve something (noun) Prompt: A person’s ambitions usually change with age. Brainstorm a list of ambitions for an infant, a child, a teenager, a young adult, and a senior citizen. Which do you think are the easiest to achieve? Which are the most difficult? Explain. (Your response must be at least 7-10 sentences.)

5 Jigsaw Plot Elements Right now, you will work in collaborative groups jigsaw notes on the following plot elements: (Make a bubble map for the plot element you have been assigned.) Exposition  Rising Action Climax Falling Action Resolution Setting

6 Jigsaw Plot Elements Let’s take it a step further…
You will now be shuffled up be shuffled into different groups where each group has one member who worked on jigsawing notes on each of the elements above.   Essentially, each group member will be an expert on a different plot element. Create a Brace Map with your findings with Plot as the main subject.

8 It’s storytime! Let’s apply what we have learned/reviewed to a couple of children’s stories. Curious George Pirate Story

9 Storytime! Now, create a plot diagram on the story of your choice.
Let’s see if we can all agree where to put things!

10 Homework Watch an episode fo your favorite television show and create a plot diagram for that episode. Make note of any unresolved plot lines.

11 Closing Plot Diagram It!
Create a basic plot diagram for one of your favorite children’s stories. If you don’t remember one, you may create a brief diagram of one of your favorite stories.
