The different cultural models of disability and their impact
The language that people use can reflect what they think and can influence how they deal with situations. A person who thinks and behaves as if a problem is located with an individual, may take a different approach to someone who see the problem of ‘disability’ located with the attitudes, systems and practices that can create disabling barriers. An inclusion program does not stand much chance of being relevant or sustainable in a business context without an awareness of cultural issues surrounding disability
