2 What is a chicano/ Xicano?
The term Chicano was originally a derogatory label for sons and daughters of latino immigrant parents but throughout the revolutionary movement, mexican-American activist reclaimed it and used as a symbol of self-determination and ethnic pride.

3 The objectives of this movement
Farm workers rights Enhanced education Voting and political rights Social inclusion Addressing negative ethnic stereotypes in media

4 The key Leaders of the movement: cesar chavez
He was a Latin American civil rights activist who represented the farm workers struggle using nonviolent tactics. Chavez worked in the fields until 1952, when he became an organizer for a Latino civil rights group called Community Service Organization (CSO). Chavez became more active working for CSO and urged Mexican Americans to register and vote, and he traveled throughout California making speeches in support of workers' rights. He later became CSO's national director in 1958. He became an icon for organized labor and leftist politics, symbolizing support for workers and for Hispanic empowerment. He is also famous the slogan "Sí, se puede" which is Spanish for "Yes, one can" or "Yes, it can be done"

5 The Key leaders of the movement: Rodolfo "Corky" Gonzáles
Gonzáles used his poetic artistry to make a platform in his political career with his famous piece “Yo Soy Joaquín” or “I am Joaquin”. The poem painted the image of what it meant to be a chicano and it addressed all the conflicting identities that come along with it. Along with being a poet and political activist, Gonzáles was a boxer which he used as an advancement to his career.
