Figure 1 Identifying and Therapeutically Targeting Differentially Expressed Cell Surface Proteins Bosse et al. use gene expression data to identify differentially expressed genes in neuroblastoma relative to normal tissue and filter for predicted cell surface epitopes. Although they use an antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) approach, cell surface proteins can also be targeted using antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC), engineered chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells, or bispecific antibodies recognizing the cell surface epitope on a tumor cell, as well as a cell surface epitope on an immune cell, such as a T cell or NK cell.
