Two categories of editing:
invisible editing/continuity (mainstream narrative) seek to hide or conceal edits emphatic editing = calls attention to itself the power of editing = Kuloshev

Continuity editing conventions
match cut cutting on action change camera angle min 30 degrees focal length by at least 10mm change easy cut bet. CUs less bet. MS difficult bet. LS eye-line match POV shot jump cut

180o rule (action axis) crossing the line screen direction in action ellipsis entrances and exits (always shoot) cut-ins (something already in the shot) cut-aways (outside of shot, helps ellipsis) continuity of bodies, props, objects How can you cross the line? character crosses the line character’s gaze allows us to cross the line
