Ratios and Proportional Relationships
Rate– A ratio comparing two different units. Unit rate– A rate with a denominator of 1. Ratio- A comparison of two quantities. Equivalent ratios - Fractions that are equal in value, but many have different numerators and denominators. Proportion- A statement that two ratios are equal. Direct Proportion: The relation between two quantities whose ratio remains constant. The graph is a straight line that passes through the origin.

Marla likes to babysit for her parents’ friends. She charges a $5 fee for travel expenses and an additional $15 per hour for every hour she babysits. Write an expression that represents how much Marla charges. How much will Marla make if she babysits for 3 hours?
