3. Newton’s First Law
An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion unless acted on by an outside unbalanced force.
Think about slamming on the brakes in the car – the car slows down, but you don’t – locks the seatbelt.

4. Inertia
Inertia – the tendency of an object to resist a change in its motion
In order to overcome an object’s inertia, a force must be exerted on the object.
Greater mass=greater inertia
Newton’s 1st Law is also called the Law of Inertia.

8. Galileo
Galileo was a scientist who studied math and physics in the late 1500’s and early 1600’s in Italy
He showed that objects with unequal masses would fall to the ground at the same time by doing an experiment at the Leaning Tower of Pisa
